Juan-José Peña Aguirre, described by the Los Angeles Times as an “outstanding violinist” and recognised from an early age for his rare musical maturity, has developed as a multifaceted musician, winning competitions as a soloist, chamber musician, and composer. He is currently completing the final year of his Bachelor’s degree at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne under Professor Svetlana Makarova. For the past three years, he has been mentored by Maestro Eduard Wulfson and simultaneously pursues a piano performance certificate with Jorge Viladoms.

As a soloist, he has appeared with renowned orchestras including the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, Shumen Philharmonic, Concepción Symphony Orchestra, South Czech Philharmonic, Camerata du Grand Genève, Menuhin Academy Soloists, and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has been featured at major international festivals such as the Gstaad New Year Music Festival, Tonebase Violin Festival, and Norway’s Klasisk i Sentrum, and has also performed chamber music and world premieres at festivals including Niederlenzer Musiktage, among others.

His artistic development has been shaped through masterclasses with leading violinists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Silvia Marcovici, Renaud Capuçon, James Ehnes, and Timothy Chooi. Most recently, he was selected by competitive admission to the prestigious Kronberg Academy’s Violin and Viola Masterclasses, where he worked with Vadim Gluzman.

He performs on a 1690 Giovanni Battista Rogeri violin generously provided by the Maggini Foundation.
