Viktor Vasilev was born in 2007 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He is currently a second-year student at the Haute École de Musique Lausanne, studying violin under Professor Svetlana Makarova.

Viktor began taking violin lessons at the age of four with Darina Dankova and continued as a regular student at the Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance Arts in his hometown, Plovdiv. At the age of nine, he was accepted into the violin class of Professor Mario Hossen at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia, where he studied for eight years concurrently.

Over the years Viktor has become a laureate of prestigious international competitions, including the Tibor Junior International Violin Competition (2nd prize) in Sion, Switzerland; the Grumiaux International Violin Competition in Belgium (1st prize) in 2018; the XXV Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy (1st prize) in 2018; the Bohdan Warchal International Competition for Bow-String Instruments in Slovakia (1st prize) in 2017; the Kocian International Violin Competition in the Czech Republic (1st and special prizes) in 2016; the Art of Strings – Lazar Miletich Violin Competition (1st prize) in 2018; the Alfred Biner International Competition (1st prize) in 2018; and the Nis International Competition for Young Instrumentalists (1st prize) in 2015, among others. Additionally, has achieved first prizes in all national competitions held in Bulgaria.

Viktor has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the WDR Funkhausorchester Köln, the Wiener Klassikfestival String Orchestra, the string orchestra of the South Czech Philharmonic, and the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, in addition to several Bulgarian national symphonic and string orchestras. He has participated in recitals at notable music festivals, such as the Wiener Klassikfestival, the Varna Summer International Music Festival, the International Summer Academy, and Festival Orpheus in Vienna, the SIMA Youth Classics in Switzerland, the Sofia Musical Weeks Festival, and the Plovdiv International Chamber Music Festival.

He has attended masterclasses with renowned professors, including Pierre Amoyal, Augustin Dumay, Gerard Poulet, Pavel Vernikov, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Midori Goto, and Tomo Keller.
