Matteo Bassan
Matteo Bassan graduated from the “A.Steffani" conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto under the guidance of Maestro Walter Vestidello with top honors. He then completed his “Master in Music Performance" at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in the class of Maestro Asier Polo. Currently, he has been selected to attend the CAS (Certificated Advanced Studies) at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland.
He was an effective student in the cello class of Maestro Giovanni Gnocchi at the Fiesole School of Music, where he was able to refine his skills with internationally renowned teachers such as Natalia Gutman, Julian Steckel, and Jerome Pernoo. He also participated in international courses such as the “Festival di Portogruaro" (VE) led by Maestros Enrico Bronzi and Damiano Scarpa, Stefano Cerrato, Francesco Dillon; the “Xenia Chamber Music Course" in Fenestrelle (TO), in Bern (Switzerland) with Maestro David Eggert, and the Virtuoso&Belcanto Festival (LU) led by Xenia Jankovic, Alain Meunier, Claudio Bohorquez, Adrian Brendel.
He won the audition to collaborate with the Filarmonica del Teatro Regio with which he played at the Reggia di Venaria under the direction of Maestros Gianandrea Noseda and Felix Mildenberger, and he further refined his skills with the first parts of the Teatro Regio di Torino, Amedeo Cicchese, and Relja Lukic.
He was a member of numerous youth orchestras such as the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico (OTO) conducted by Maestro Alexander Lonquich, the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, the OGI (Orchestra Giovanile Italiana) with which he performed at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, the Accademia Chigiana di Siena, the Parco della Musica di Roma, the Sala Mahler di Dobbiaco, the Teatro della Pergola under the guidance of internationally renowned conductors such as Kolja Blacher, Giovanni Sollima, Jonathan Webb, and Daniele Gatti.
He performs as a soloist with the orchestra, performing numerous concerts from the cello solo repertoire: Schumann's Concerto in A minor with the Orchestra Vivace della Rivera; Haydn's Cello Concerto in D major with the orchestra I Musici di Parma; Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Cellos in various festivals in the cities of Venice, Vicenza, and Treviso. In 2019, he received positive recognition at the international solo competition “1st edition Premio Scimone".
He also attended the “Master of II level Chamber Music" course at the conservatory of Parma held by the Trio di Parma. This marks the beginning of an intense chamber music activity where he performs in various formations. He performs in a cello-piano duo for numerous concert series in the provinces of the major cities of Veneto, and he has also played in a quartet with Fabian Rieser and Tobias Haunhorst for the Asolo Matinée concert series. In a trio with piano and clarinet, he won prizes at the international competitions “Salieri" in Legnago, “Contea" in Vidor (TV), and the national competition in Piove di Sacco. In a violin and piano trio, he was selected at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland to perform in numerous concert series in Ticino.
