Maria Sotriffer
Maria Sotriffer was born in Vienna into a family of musicians in 1999 and received her first violin lessons from her mother at the age of two. At the age of four, she became the youngest student to be admitted to the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna in Eugenia Polatschek’s class. She studied with Pavel Vernikov at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität in Vienna, then again at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Gerhard Schulz and Albena Danailova. Since 2022, she has been studying at HEMU Lausanne in the class of Svetlana Makarova.
As a soloist, Maria Sotriffer has collaborated with the North Czech Philharmonic, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Camerata Musica Wien, the Kammerorchester Traismauer, the Ensemble Neue Streicher, the Beethoven Philharmonie Baden, and the Camerata Medica Wien. She has won prizes at numerous national and international competitions, such as Prima la musica, Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, Rising Stars Grand Prix International Music Competition Berlin, The North International Music Competition, IMK Soloist Audition, Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach (Esta Prize), London International Concerto Competition, Singapore International Music Competition, 19th Padova International Music Competition, Nouvelles Etoiles International Online Music Competition, XIIth International Competition for Young Musicians Città di Massa, Mimas Music Festival Competition, and the 20th Concorso internazionale di esecuzione musicale.
